At my mom’s funeral in 2025 I learned from her peers, family, and friends how indulgent she was in teaching others. She was a master quilter and several people talked about how generous she was with her time and materials and encouraging beginners.
At the last job of my career I noticed the same thing in myself. I wanted to teach others how to avoid pitfalls, to avoid unnecessary conflicts, and be proud and accountable for their work. I wanted to mentor.
Since I retired in September 2025 I think I’m still having that feeling. Each project I start, finish, or abandon I want to tell someone about. And I think the desire to share is just natural.
Despite how much I hate social media, this blog is the only venue I have right now for doing just that.
The content in the blog will mostly deal with:
- Detailing the tips and tricks I learn
- Discussing how to decide whether to do a project or not
- Using limited resources to spark creativity
- Exhibiting the results of my playtime-retirement
